Wed, 19 Dec 2007 Although I intend to switch to a Mesa 5i20 board eventually for higher step rates and additional functionality, right now I'm using software stepping and a parallel port. I had a simple passive DB-25 to screw terminals "breakout board", but I needed some additional functions - relay drivers, opto-isolated inputs, and a charge pump. One of the things I hope to do with this machine is mill PC boards for exactly this kind of small job, but I can't do that yet. So I did it the old fashioned way, with perfboard and a soldering iron. It took me most of yesterday evening to build. I haven't tested it yet. Mounting, wiring, and testing is today's project. (posted: 19 Dec 2007 14:07) (permalink) |
